“Adrenal Fatigue” is coined but a more accurate diagnostic label is termed: HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis D (dysregulation) or HPA-D for short.
Adrenal fatigue is an increasingly common yet sometimes controversial diagnosis used to indicate depletion of the adrenal glands. Cortisol is a hormone released by the adrenals for use in the regulation of blood pressure. In response to stress, the adrenals release greater amounts of cortisol. Adrenal fatigue is thought to occur when the adrenals have become overtaxed by excess cortisol release and can no longer produce levels of cortisol necessary for optimal body function.

cognitive issues or “brain fog”
increased energy levels in the evenings
cravings for salty and sweet foods
unexplained body aches
overuse of caffeine and other stimulants
a compromised immune system
low blood pressure
loss of body hair
Less common symptoms are could include:
insomnia
frequent urination
loss of muscle tone
poor circulation
depression
weight gain
decreased libido
What causes Adrenal Fatigue?
There are four primary triggers for HPA-D:
Perceived stress: Emotional and psychological stress.
Glycemic dysregulation: High and low blood sugar, or alternating between the two.
Circadian disruption: Sleep deprivation, too much light exposure at night, not enough exposure to daylight, shift work, and frequent travel between time zones.
Inflammatory signaling: Inflammation caused by poor diet, physical inactivity or overtraining, gut dysfunction (SIBO, dysbiosis, gut infections, leaky gut, etc.), autoimmune disease, and many other modern sources of inflammation.
Some important things to note about adrenal fatigue:
Adrenal fatigue is not recognized the medical literature. But, that doesn’t mean that it’s a myth. In our experiences, adrenal fatigue is definitely a real thing. Here’s data to back that up: Fatigue makes up more than 20% of all guest contacts in primary care or 18 million visits in the US. 75-90% of primary care visits have been reported to be stress related. Conventional medicine is often at a loss of how to care for these guests.
What’s the difference between Adrenal Fatigue and Adrenal Insufficiency?
While the diagnosis of adrenal fatigue is not accepted by most doctors, adrenal insufficiency is a real medical condition that occurs when our adrenal glands cannot produce enough hormones. Adrenal insufficiency is caused by damage to the adrenal glands or a problem with the pituitary gland—a pea-sized gland in the brain that tells the adrenals to produce cortisol.
A person with adrenal insufficiency may be dehydrated, confused, or losing weight. He or she may feel weak, tired, or dizzy, and have low blood pressure. Other symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Adrenal insufficiency is diagnosed through blood tests, and can be treated with medications that replace the hormones the adrenals would normally make.

I don’t often take the time to write, but I just had to give a shoutout to the care team at Best Life Chiropractic! They have recently helped me through some difficult times with my back and neck. They’ve helped me get back to my “best life” and I truly value Dr Steve’s experience and care! And I love his office staff! They are always so caring and ready to answer my questions. Ashley greets me with such a positive energy every time I walk through their door. Everyone there makes me feel seen and heard. I’ve been to other chiropractic offices before, but never have I experienced this level of care. There were times I was unsure about the recommended treatments, but they have always taken the time to explain things and I’ve grown to trust them seeing the results. Getting back to a healthier version of myself…. being able to walk again without pain…that’s something I will never take for granted! Thank you all for taking such great care of me! You have all been such a blessing to my life! ❤️

Thank you, Best Life!
I have been coming here for close to a year. My arms were hanging at different lengths. I came in and we found that my clavicle was slanted, I had tech neck and a lower back issue
I can happily say that Dr. Laura, Dr. Lisa and the whole office helped me get right. It only took a few adjustments to get my arms hanging the right way, my back has no problems doing lifts anymore and my neck feels much better.
The best part of the reoccurring treatment is they can continue to help existing issues or if something randomly comes up. One day I couldn't straighten my arm without pain...they told me come on in and they worked it out for me.
They do have a rotating group of interns and chiropractic students who do hands on work with patients but every single one has been great. I have worked multiple and I have been pleased with all of them. You can tell Dr. Laura makes sure she is bringing in talented individuals who care.
I couldn't be happier with my decision to come here.
